Engineering Technician

Main tasks and responsibilities

In this role you will work within the DAS team to assist in the delivery of projects and distribution of best practice engineering and design advice which focuses on implementing a high-quality service. This requires supporting the DAS team with production of engineering drawings and other engineering related support services for renewable energy infrastructure projects.

Examples of the types of drawing production you will undertake are as follows:

  • Production of 2D civil designs for renewable energy projects;
  • Swept Path Analysis and production of Swept Path Analysis drawings;
  • Assisting with production of structural detailing drawings, including wind turbine foundations;
  • Assisting with production of architectural detailing and design drawings;
  • Attending and contributing to design team meetings;
  • Supporting Design and Advisory Services (DAS) colleagues;
  • Drafting and support for other department and disciplines, for example:
    • Electrical Single Line Diagrams (SLD's).
    • Drawings for the Geotechnical Team - Borehole location drawings, Seismic drawings / Borrow pit drawings etc.
    • Drawings for the Project Management team - Construction compounds, layouts, Substations etc.
    • Legal Plans, which are to be produced in DWG format, with boundaries indicated.
    • Drawings for the P&E Department - Access maps, site boundary drawings.
    • Any other duties as may reasonably be expected.

You will be responsible for supporting colleagues to ensure high project performance (time, cost, quality) and will also be responsible for the overall delivery of discreet packages of work.

The role requires you to input to tender proposals, as well as assisting in business development activities as required.

The role requires a mixture of working in the office and attending site.

Education & Qualifications

  • Qualification in Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CAD)
  • Civil/Structural Engineering Qualification

Specialist Knowledge and Skills

  • Civil/Structural Engineering Knowledge
  • Strong understanding of industry standards
  • Experience of AutoCAD Civil 3D software

Relevant experience

  • Renewable Energy Industry Experience

Additional requirements

  • Self-driven to manage own time across multiple projects and undertake CAD duties unsupervised.
