Job Title: Head of Operations - Steel Business (Residential Expat)
Location: Dakar, Senegal
Our client, a leading steel business in Senegal, is seeking a residential expatriate Head of Operations to oversee its manufacturing and production processes. The Head of Operations will be responsible for ensuring that the company's operations run smoothly, efficiently, and safely while meeting or exceeding performance targets.
- Develop and implement operational strategies that align with the company's objectives and goals.
- Manage and oversee the manufacturing and production processes, ensuring that quality standards are met, and production targets are achieved.
- Identify and implement improvements in production processes, procedures, and systems to increase efficiency, reduce waste and costs while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Monitor and analyze production data and key performance indicators to identify areas for improvement and take corrective actions.
- Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to ensure the well-being of employees and the protection of company assets.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of raw materials, equipment, and services.
- Collaborate with other senior leaders to develop and implement strategic plans for the company.
- Manage and develop the operations team, providing guidance, coaching, and performance management.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
- At least 20 years of experience in operations management, preferably in a steel manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with experience managing teams of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex operational issues.
- Knowledge of steel production processes and equipment, quality standards, and safety regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Fluency in French and English is required.
- Ability to relocate to Senegal on a residential expatriate basis (single or family status)
- Knowledge of Senegal's legal and regulatory environment is preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a high level of ambiguity.
