Offshore Analysis Lead

Location: Glasgow/home-based

Purpose of the role

The main purpose of the role is to both develop and deliver offshore analysis services with a strong focus on both layout design and pre-construction yield assessments, and to provide quality assurance support in the form of analysis checking for these types of deliverables, in addition to broader Analytics services. A critical part of the role will be to lead on the development of these services through research and development efforts, developing new approaches to meet the industry needs and carry out business development to increase the company's market share in this sector.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Deliver core analysis services which the department offers, with a primary focus on pre- and post-construction yield assessment services for wind assets
  • Participate in or lead working groups focused on research and development of current or proposed methods to ensure that the deliverables the department offers align with market requirements and remain at the cutting edge
  • Take responsibility for the financial control and reporting of projects and tasks assigned to your management
  • Participate in pro-active business development through client calls and face-to-face meetings, attendance at conferences and networking events, and presentation of technical material at industry events to promote the company
  • Assist with the preparation, scoping, and delivery of tenders/bids/quotes
  • Carry out quality assurance of work which colleagues in the department produce, through both checking and approval of analyses and reports, to ensure that a high standard and consistency of deliverable is maintained
  • Stay up to date with developments in tools/methods/assumptions at industry level
  • Actively identify areas of analysis or internal documentation which require improvement/updating and liaise with colleagues to address this
  • Train and develop both new and existing team members within the department, in addition to providing day-to-day support of analysts through guidance on their project deliverables

Education & Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in either a mathematics, physics, meteorology, or engineering field
  • Desirable: Modules or qualification with a focus on statistics

Specialist Knowledge and Skills

  • Experienced and competent user of Microsoft Office packages
  • Detailed knowledge of the methodologies for offshore layout design and pre-construction yield analysis, in a wide range of markets
  • Fluent in English, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills (written and oral)
  • Highly IT literate and detail oriented
  • Ability to maintain a high level of quality while working under pressure
  • Flexible approach to be able to manage tasks concurrently, and to be handle short order pieces of work
  • Show initiative to solve problems and provide innovative ideas
  • Proactive and organised approach to tasks with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Work effectively in a matrix managed environment with teams based in multiple countries and office locations
  • Effectively lead, engage, and influence by example
  • Strong client engagement and technology ambassador skills
  • Desirable:
    • Python, SQL or other programming skills
    • Detailed knowledge of the methodologies for post-construction yield analysis, with experience processing and interpreting wind turbine production data

Relevant experience

  • Significant experience of carrying out pre-construction yield assessments for offshore wind farms
  • Significant experience of carrying out layout design for offshore wind farms
  • Project management experience in a commercial setting
  • Significant experience of carrying out checking of offshore pre-construction yield assessments and supporting analyses, with a proven track record
  • Experience carrying out Due Diligence work on offshore wind farm projects
  • Desirable:
    • Previous line management experience
    • Proven track record within a wind consultancy environment
    • Experience of carrying out post-construction yield assessments for wind farms
    • Experience of carrying out pre- and post-construction yield assessments for solar farms
    • Track record of published works or industry conference presentations
