Senior IT Manager (IT)

Job Description

We have a current opportunity for a Senior IT Manager (Energy) on a permanent basis. The position will be based in Cape Town.

The purpose of the IT Manager is to provide technical expertise and IT support to optimize daily operations and make an impact on our overall growth by leveraging technology. The incumbent is required to manage and improve our overall IT infrastructure with service providers to ensure efficiency, and to serve as the liaison between the business side of the client, and the technical side by identifying needs, communicating findings, and making recommendations for improvement.

Other key responsibilities include designing and managing IT solutions; handling business-critical IT tasks and systems administration; procuring and managing the necessary software and hardware; reviewing, improving, and/or creating operating processes and policies; as well as training, educating, and supporting the team with new developments, innovations, and best practice.

Job objectives -

IT Service Provider Contract Management

As the main point of contact for external service providers (e.g., IT Support company), supervise and provide support for:

  • Device hardware and software installations and/or upgrades, including PC setups for new and existing users
  • IT-related Onboarding and Offboarding of employees
  • IT support for the client's core software (installations, performance, testing etc.)
  • Implementation and maintenance of ERP and CRM system

Operational Management

  • Collaboratively plan, design, implement, monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize various systems and solutions
  • Assist with the design, implementation and management of connectivity, network infrastructure, security, and cloud solutions
  • Workshop solutions with the team and service providers
  • Ensure Data Security including managing anti-virus, software patching, managing all threats, incidents, and problems, datatheft, and protection
  • VOIP Telephone setup, registration, and basic troubleshooting
  • Provide overall IT maintenance and support (remote and onsite)
  • Handling of service tickets (Client's IT Champion)
  • Sharepoint role and responsible for permissions management
  • Specify and procure IT needs and services (including Tablets, UPS, routers, alarms, telephones, cloud computing, security etc.)
  • Create/update Asset Register and stock keeping of IT equipment in storage
  • Microsoft 365 domain user creation, email address creation, group assignments
  • Problem management and resolution, escalate when needed
  • Work with and manage Service Level Agreements

Process Management

  • Review, improve, create, document, and implement standard processes and IT policies
  • Maintain and improve the overall security of our systems by proactively monitoring and managing events, alerts and make recommendations for process improvement
  • Automation of tasks where necessary and relevant
  • Align organizational processes and tools with proven industry best practice and frameworks

Technical Leadership

  • Provide technical support to all employees in collaboration with service providers
  • Provide thought leadership and subject matter expertise
  • Perform the administration of technical solutions according to the agreed plans and processes
  • Propose enhancements to processes and solutions where applicable
  • Provide timely and professional assistance to the team when needed

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain professional working relationships across the business
  • Lead, guide, inform and support the client's team as subject matter expert

Skills Development and Research

  • Stay up to date with industry trends, attend training, and obtain relevant certifications
  • Provide input to business with regards to improvements, innovations, and best practices
  • Conduct research, share insights, and provide specialist technical input
  • Act as custodian for learning and development within the Business
