Training and Development Manager

Job Description

Our client, a world class mining company, has a current opportunity for a Training and Development Manager on a permanent basis. The position will be based in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

Reports to
General Manager, Health and Safety, HSE

Summary/Objective

To lead and manage the Training Function in order to support the business strategy and achieve business objectives

Essential Functions

  • Improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Training Quality Management System
  • Develop Training policies and procedures for the organization
  • Comply with requirements of the Training Quality Management System
  • Prepare and manage the budget
  • Manage expenditure against the budget
  • Measure and monitor customer satisfaction within a business unit and recommend corrective action
  • Develop and manage customer relationships to meet business objectives
  • Formulate a strategy and an implementation plan for the Training and Development Department
  • Develop and implement a strategy and action plans for the Training department
  • Align the Training strategy with the business strategy, goals and objectives
  • Implement skills development in order to facilitate organizational transformation
  • Provide information and advice regarding skills development and related issues
  • Research, analyse and make suitable recommendations on training and development programmes and initiatives
  • Give regular feedback to stakeholders on training related matters
  • Conduct a company Training needs analysis and develop an operational training and development plans

  • Approve purchase requests and payments for training providers
  • Define target audience profiles and skills gaps
  • Obtain learner information using the Learning Management System

  • Build and maintain a competent and motivated team
  • Manage the Department to achieve work unit objectives (individuals and teams)
  • Manage individual and team performance
  • Manage conflicts within the workplace

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • University degree in Human Resources and development or related discipline
  • More than 5 years' experience in a related role, of which 3 should have been at a management level or experience in a functional/specialist area
  • Train the Trainer Qualification
  • Assessor Qualification
  • Moderator Qualification
  • Project Management experience
  • MS Office experience (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
