Earthstream are proud to be recruiting an Operations Test Engineer for a leading company in the development and production of LEDs and related technologies

Job Role:

This role will split time between the SMT Operations and Photometric Testing Departments as customer demand dictates. In both departments employee will be setting up, operating, and maintaining relevant department equipment. The role will also help in general facilities things from time to time as there is need. SMT equipment includes, Solder Printers, Pick & Place, Reflow Oven, SPI, AOI, among others. Testing equipment includes, Goniophotometer, Integrating Spheres and other laboratory equipment. Prefer applicants with prior experience in one, or both types of departments, but all individuals will be trained to operate the necessary equipment. Besides experience, standout applicants will also be able to demonstrate:

  • Capable of learning a new things.
  • Not afraid to roll-up their sleeves and do what's need to be done.

Job Functions Expanded
1. SMT:

a. Participate in design / manufacturing reviews with engineering to ensure quality compliance.

b. Use machine software & basic PC abilities to program & debug unique machine programs for each project.

c. Inspect incoming material, identity & document defects, and follow internal procedures.

d. Inspect product as it flows through the assembly line and identity & document defects and follow internal procedures. Troubleshoot machines during production, as needed, to ensure a quality end-product.

e. Read and understand manuals, machine drawings, simple electric circuit diagrams. Identity different electrical components and understand their function and operation.

f. Hand solder/rework electronical components, understand and implement simple wiring instructions, inspect items with a microscope and/or x-ray system.

g. Help design and understand simple 2D drawings.

h. Maintain an organized and clean environment. Comply with all safety and quality policies.

i. Preform needed maintenance and preventative maintenance procedures.

2. Testing:

a. Understand testing criteria from sales/engineering and prepare testing equipment accordingly.

b. Show strict compliance to internal testing procedures.

c. Maintain testing equipment and calibration requirements.

d. Build a needed jig, rack, etc.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Fluent Japanese or Native Speaker

Preferred but not required
· Experience with SMT operations, supply chain, quality, testing
· BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, etc.)

Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs., stand/sit for long periods of time. Must not be allergic to chemical or their smell (IPA, ethanol, solder, flux, etc.).
