Job Overview: The Head of Engineering for Solar Energy will lead and oversee all engineering activities within the solar energy division. This role is responsible for managing engineering projects, ensuring technical excellence, and driving innovation in solar technology. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of solar energy systems, project management expertise, and strong leadership capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Management:
    • Lead the engineering team, providing direction, mentorship, and support.
    • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
    • Oversee the recruitment, development, and performance management of engineering staff.

  2. Project Management:
    • Manage and coordinate engineering projects from concept through completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
    • Develop project plans, timelines, and resource allocation.
    • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, environmental, and safety standards.

  3. Technical Expertise:
    • Provide technical guidance and expertise in the design, development, and implementation of solar energy systems, including photovoltaic (PV) systems, solar thermal systems, and energy storage solutions.
    • Stay abreast of technological advancements and integrate new technologies into existing projects.

  4. Quality Assurance:
    • Establish and maintain quality assurance processes and standards.
    • Conduct regular inspections and testing to ensure the reliability and efficiency of solar energy systems.
    • Implement corrective actions for any identified issues or deficiencies.

  5. Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with other departments, including R&D, operations, and sales, to align engineering efforts with business objectives.
    • Act as the primary technical liaison with clients, contractors, and suppliers.
    • Prepare and present technical reports, proposals, and project updates to stakeholders.

  6. Budget and Resource Management:
    • Develop and manage the engineering department's budget.
    • Optimize resource utilization and manage capital expenditures.
    • Ensure cost-effective engineering solutions without compromising on quality.

  7. Innovation and R&D:
    • Drive research and development initiatives to enhance solar energy technologies and solutions.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and innovation within the engineering function.


  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the solar energy industry.
    • Proven track record of managing complex engineering projects and teams.

  • Technical Skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of solar energy systems, including design, installation, and maintenance.
    • Proficiency in engineering software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, PVsyst).
    • Understanding of industry standards, codes, and regulations.

  • Leadership Skills:
    • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to motivate and inspire a high-performing engineering team.

  • Project Management:
    • Exceptional project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Other:
    • Willingness to travel as needed.
