Electrical Engineer (Grid Low Voltage)

EarthStream are currently looking for an 'Electrical Engineer' to assist a project in the US. This is a critical role within the Offshore Renewables Business, focusing on the delivery of large-scale offshore wind projects.

Typical tasks and responsibilities can include:

  • Ensure Health and Safety policies are adhered to in all matters.
  • Provide expert advice on LV electrical systems, to ensure that cost effective technical
  • solutions are identified, fully evaluated and the technical risks are fully understood by the project/business.
  • To support the front-end engineering design of all relevant project packages to ensure that LV systems comply with business procedures and specifications.
  • To prepare contract specifications for LV systems ensuring they comply with project and business requirements, country specific codes of practice, laws, regulations, and standards.
  • To review detailed design documentation and drawings to ensure compliance with contract specifications and legal requirements.
  • To lead the quality audit of electrical installations while onshore in fabrication yards and factories to ensure compliance with contract specifications and legal requirements.
  • Lead preparation of LV system equipment tender specifications (when this is required)
  • Lead preparation of LV system engineering design drawings (when this is required)
  • Perform UPS/battery sizing calculations in line with IEEE 485 (when this is required)
  • Perform LV cable sizing calculations in line with BS 7671/IEC 61892 guidance (when this is required)

Requirements (but not limited to):

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant engineering discipline
  • Offshore experience preferred
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills
  • The ability to understand complex engineering and construction information, which may be unfamiliar
  • Proven ability to work in a highly skilled team environment and independently.
  • Solid grasp of engineering and work control of large-scale project delivery
  • IT literate with the ability to operate MS Office systems and learn how to use new IT applications.
  • Educated to degree level in relevant engineering discipline or a related subject.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in auxiliary & LV electrical equipment and cables related to onshore and offshore EHV/HV electrical substations and wind turbines.
  • Extensive experience in the engineering, procurement, and construction or operation of LV electrical systems including
  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering procedures, standards and guidance
