Commissioning Engineer - Greenfield and Brownfield Substations

Position Title: Commissioning Engineer

EarthStream Global are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Commissioning Engineer to support greenfield and brownfield substation projects. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring the successful installation, testing, and commissioning of substation equipment and systems while adhering to industry standards, project specifications, and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Commissioning Support: Lead and participate in the commissioning activities for both greenfield and brownfield substations, including high-voltage (HV) and medium-voltage (MV) systems.
  • Testing & Validation: Perform testing of electrical equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, protection relays, control panels, switchgear, and SCADA systems to ensure they meet design and operational specifications.
  • Technical Coordination: Collaborate with project teams, including designers, contractors, and client representatives, to ensure alignment and timely execution of commissioning tasks.
  • Documentation: Prepare, review, and update commissioning documents such as test procedures, reports, and equipment inspection checklists. Ensure all documentation complies with project and regulatory requirements.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve issues during the commissioning phase, including troubleshooting equipment malfunctions or system discrepancies.
  • Compliance: Ensure all commissioning activities adhere to relevant safety standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE) and environmental regulations.
  • Site Support: Conduct site visits and assessments, particularly for brownfield projects, to evaluate existing systems and recommend necessary upgrades or modifications.
  • Training & Handover: Provide training to client staff on newly commissioned systems and support the handover process.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the refinement of commissioning processes, methodologies, and tools.

Technical Expertise:

  • 8+ years of experience in electrical commissioning or substation projects

  • Experience working on both greenfield and brownfield projects is preferred.

  • Proven experience in the commissioning of HV/MV substations (greenfield and brownfield).

  • In-depth knowledge of protection and control systems, SCADA integration, and substation automation systems.

  • Familiarity with industry standards.

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
