Job Description: Apparatus Technician (Installation & Repair - Substations)
Position Summary:
EarthStream Global are seeking a skilled and experienced Apparatus Technician to support the installation, repair, and maintenance of high-voltage apparatus in greenfield and brownfield substations. The successful candidate will work on critical energy infrastructure projects, ensuring the proper functioning of electrical equipment in compliance with technical standards and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install substation equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, disconnect switches, reactors, capacitors, instrument transformers, and bus systems.
- Diagnose and repair faults in high-voltage apparatus, including mechanical and electrical components.
- Perform equipment refurbishment, replacement, and upgrades to meet operational requirements.
- Conduct pre- and post-installation inspections to ensure proper alignment, operation, and compliance with standards.
- Perform basic functional testing to confirm equipment readiness prior to commissioning.
- Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities on substation apparatus, identifying and mitigating potential risks.
- Document maintenance and repair activities, providing detailed records for operational reference.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience installing, repairing, or maintaining high-voltage apparatus in greenfield and/or brownfield substation environments.
- Familiarity with both new installations and retrofits/upgrades of existing substations.
- Proficiency in handling high-voltage equipment such as circuit breakers, transformers, and switchgear.
- Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical principles related to substation apparatus.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to travel to various project sites as needed.
- Valid driver's license and any applicable trade or safety certifications.
- Physical fitness to meet the demands of the role, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
