Job Description: Authorised Person (Data Centre)

EarthStream Global are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Authorised Person (AP) to join our team at a cutting-edge data centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient management of electrical systems, with a primary focus on medium voltage (MV) and high voltage (HV) systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform as an Electrical Authorised Person for MV and, where applicable, HV systems.
  • Maintain compliance with safety regulations, including issuing permits-to-work and managing isolation procedures.
  • Oversee routine maintenance, testing, and operation of electrical systems, including MV/HV switchgear and distribution.
  • Respond to and resolve electrical faults to minimise downtime in a high-availability environment.
  • Ensure all electrical works are performed in accordance with the highest safety standards and risk assessments.
  • Provide technical oversight and training for contractors and junior staff on electrical safety and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of permits, switching schedules, and system inspections.
  • Prepare detailed reports on electrical performance, incidents, and maintenance activities.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in electrical building services projects, ideally in mission-critical environments such as data centres, hospitals, or industrial facilities.
  • Must hold a recognised electrical qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
  • Minimum of an MV Authorised Person (AP)
  • HV Authorised Person (AP) certification is highly advantageous.
  • Proficiency with MV and HV systems, including switchgear, transformers, and distribution systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical safety standards
  • Strong understanding of Permit-to-Work systems and risk assessment processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
