Data Centres
If you’re the kind of engineer who wants to take real ownership of commissioning — not just tick boxes — this should get your attention.
We’re delivering a major data centre project in Milan. It’s fast‑paced, highly technical and full of the sort of moving parts where strong commissioning leadership makes or breaks the job. That’s why we’re looking for a Mechanical Commissioning Lead who knows how to bring systems online properly, manage multiple specialists, and keep both the quality and the momentum exactly where they need to be.

What You’ll Do
You’ll be the person who makes sure the commissioning doesn’t just happen — it happens in the right sequence, with the right documentation, and to the standard the client expects.
That includes:
  • Reviewing IFC drawings, specs and technical submittals
  • Working closely with the PM and QS on any commissioning‑related cost impacts
  • Mentoring junior engineers and supporting their development
  • Developing and implementing the commissioning plan
  • Coordinating commissioning with planners, package engineers and vendors
  • Attending client commissioning meetings and ensuring alignment
  • Getting all descriptions of operations and setpoints approved
  • Ensuring checklists, scripts, and documentation meet client standards
  • Managing specialist vendors and ensuring their activities align with programme
  • Verifying and witnessing commissioning activities
  • Running and updating commissioning trackers, logs and weekly progress reports
  • Leading walkdowns, tag walks and system sign‑off
  • Managing snag lists and ensuring issues are closed out quickly
  • Ensuring client training is completed on schedule

Quality & Risk
You’ll help define system boundaries, manage benchmarks, oversee test packs, and ensure everything is accurate, compliant and ready for inspection. You’ll also take a proactive role in identifying risks, reporting them clearly, and helping the project team stay ahead of possible delays.
Communication & Commercial Awareness
You’ll issue weekly commissioning and risk reports, advise on potential variations, and work closely with QS and PM teams to avoid surprises. Clear communication is essential — especially when something might impact programme.
Who This Suits
If you like being the person who brings systems to life, who spots issues early, and who knows how to manage commissioning in a structured but practical way — you’ll thrive here. Data centre experience is an advantage, but strong commissioning leadership and mechanical expertise matter most.
You’ll enjoy this role if you prefer action over bureaucracy, responsibility over hand‑holding, and clarity over chaos.
