Specialism:
Land Surveyor
Start date: ASAP
Duration: Long term contract.
Location: Hoboken Belgium
Rotation: Monday-Friday.
Description
The client is a global leader in materials technology. It is a stable international group and, at the same time, a thoroughly Belgian company with four sites in Belgium. We develop technologies and produce materials for high-quality solar cells used in satellites, rechargeable batteries, LED applications, catalysts, and more. Through recycling, we extract valuable metals from items such as laptops and mobile phones.
Department Description and Responsibilities
The newly established Space Management & Infrastructure service within the Technology department is responsible for the management and development of the site infrastructure in Hoboken. The Hoboken site comprises various buildings, installations, roads, cable and pipeline networks, sewage systems, and piperacks.
The Space Management & Infrastructure department acts as the central link between internal services for managing infrastructure data, conducting inspections, and ensuring changes are correctly incorporated into digital and 3D models. Safety and compliance with Seveso standards are top priorities.
Primary Tasks and Responsibilities
• Supporting internal colleagues in the management of infrastructure projects, including inspections, measurements, and updating digital and 3D models. Infrastructure is interpreted in its broadest sense: buildings, installations, roads, cables and pipelines, sewage systems, piperacks, etc.
• The role contributes to the internal ambition to carry out surveying tasks internally instead of outsourcing.
• You will assist in ensuring all changes to this infrastructure are properly recorded; you will update all changes on the site plan and in the 3D model.
• The 3D model of the utility pipelines on the site is under development, and you will help manage and expand this model.
• Co-develop solutions regarding our infrastructure: traffic safety, environmental measures, maintenance proposals, and compliance with legislation.
• Creating digital site plans is a fundamental part of the job.
• SAP skills for searching old documents in our archives are an advantage.
• You will be working on a Seveso site where safety is the highest priority. Procedures and safety rules must be strictly followed (Golden Rules), and exemplary behaviour is essential.
Technical Profile Requirements
• You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree specialising in construction or surveying, or you have equivalent experience.
• You have at least 5 years of experience in monitoring and executing construction works; basic training as a surveyor is required.
• Multidisciplinary construction knowledge is an asset, and a background in infrastructure works is a significant plus.
• You are familiar with safety standards within the construction industry and legislation, as well as the usual procedures at a Seveso or (petro)chemical company such as the client.
• You are capable of independently conducting surveying measurements on projects in progress, such as staking out Lambert coordinates and measuring cables and pipelines.
• You are familiar with the following software programmes:
o MS Office
o SAP
o AutoCAD
o Revit is a plus
o Navisworks, Ultimo, Plant2D, Inventor are a plus
Non-Technical Profile Requirements
• Good communication skills and a structured working style.
• Flexibility to switch quickly between tasks.
• Safety awareness and exemplary behaviour.
Language Proficiencies
• Dutch: fluent
• English: basic knowledge
Location
• Hoboken – client site.
• 100% onsite presence required – occasional homeworking is possible.
Contract
• This is an internal position, temporarily replaced by an external contractor.
• We are open to internalisation after 6–12 months. Contractor moving to Perm.
Skills required –
Experience as infrastructure 3D designer in an industrial environment - 5 Years
Experience as Land surveyor - 5 Years
Experience in infrastructure surveys - 7 Years
You have a degree in Construction or Surveying – Yes
Please fill in the additional questionnaire – each candidate needs to complete this to be considered by the client
