An established European electricity transmission operator is seeking an experienced Project Communications Advisor to support the delivery of strategic high-voltage infrastructure projects in the North-East Netherlands. This role will be responsible for stakeholder engagement, public communications, and participation activities for projects that are critical to the energy transition and future electricity security.
Working within a multidisciplinary project environment, you will collaborate closely with project managers, environmental specialists, regional coordinators, government authorities, businesses, and local communities.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be an experienced communications professional with a strong background in infrastructure or energy projects, capable of building trust with stakeholders, managing public-facing communications, and supporting the successful delivery of strategically important electricity transmission projects. They will combine excellent communication skills with political awareness, stakeholder management expertise, and a practical, hands-on approach.
Working within a multidisciplinary project environment, you will collaborate closely with project managers, environmental specialists, regional coordinators, government authorities, businesses, and local communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement communication strategies for major infrastructure and energy projects.
- Manage stakeholder engagement and community participation activities.
- Organize and facilitate public consultations, information sessions, and stakeholder meetings.
- Prepare and deliver communication materials, including:
- Press releases
- Community newsletters and resident communications
- Project updates
- Website and digital content
- Coordinate communications between project teams, governmental organizations, businesses, and affected communities.
- Provide communication and stakeholder management advice to project teams.
- Ensure consistent, transparent, and effective messaging across all channels.
- Support projects operating within politically and socially sensitive environments.
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a Communications Advisor or Communications Manager.
- Demonstrated experience supporting infrastructure, utilities, energy, or transmission projects.
- Proven track record in stakeholder engagement, community relations, and public consultation.
- Experience working within politically sensitive or public-sector environments.
- Strong understanding of online and offline communication channels.
- Experience using communication management platforms and tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Dutch.
- Ability to balance multiple stakeholder interests and provide strategic advice.
- Proactive, independent, and results-driven approach.
- High-voltage transmission, power grid, renewable energy, or utility sector experience.
- Development and execution of communication strategies for complex projects.
- Delivery of stakeholder engagement programmes and participation processes.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong relationship management skills across public and private sector stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related discipline.
- Hybrid working arrangement with approximately one day per week in the office and the remainder remote.
- Attendance at public meetings and stakeholder engagement events is required.
- Contract extension may be possible.
- Pre-employment screening and background verification required before commencement.
