Project Engineer (GFN) – Area West – Gouda, Zeeland

Hours per week: 36–40 Experience: 5 years

What will you do?
As a Project Engineer, you are the technical specialist for complex (electrical) engineering and infrastructure projects in and around high-voltage substations in the western region of the Netherlands. Your scope includes components of all high- and low-voltage installations at our substations—primary, secondary, and civil.
You are responsible for answering engineering-related questions, checking design quality, and providing technical support during execution when needed. You ensure a smooth design process throughout various phases of the project. To do this, you work closely with engineers from other disciplines, project teams, and the asset management/operations organisation. You monitor the progress and quality of designs produced by contractors and issue assignments to engineering parties. You also ensure the correct delivery of all as-built documentation.
The work primarily focuses on one-to-one replacements, customer connection modifications, and secondary system renovations. You work under the guidance of the Lead Engineer and Project Manager and coordinate technical issues with Asset Management. You are the technical point of contact for contractors and engineering partners within your area of expertise, and you help determine which deviations from specifications may be accepted.
As a Project Engineer, you fall hierarchically under Area West, are part of multiple project teams, and report to the Lead Engineer of the respective project.

Key Responsibilities
• Preparing, interpreting, and applying technical specifications and (international) standards, guidelines, and norms
•Reviewing tender documents and responding to technical questions
•Monitoring progress and signalling deviations in scope, quality, or timelines for your part of the technical work package
•Acting as point of contact for contractors and timely reviewing submitted work packages, drawings, calculations, and other technical documents
•Advising on technical alternatives when bottlenecks arise

Profile
• Completed education in Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering
• Broad knowledge of high-voltage components, controls, and interfaces with the technical environment
• Ability to review designs and calculations made by third parties
• Knowledge and experience with contract forms such as Bestek, UAV, UAV-GC, System-Oriented Contract Management (SCB), and Systems Engineering (e.g., using Relatics) is an advantage
• Enjoys working in a more supervisory and coordinating role, at some distance from day-to-day design work

Practical Information
Location: Gouda (Thursday is a fixed office day). Other days hybrid/negotiable. Project teams may meet every 2 weeks at a project site or regional office, so some travel flexibility is required.
